Ingredients
  • Ripe mangoes, cut in chunks- 1 or 2
  • Turmeric powder-1/2 tsp
  • Red Chili powder-1/2 tsp
  • Water- 1 cup
  • Salt- ½ tsp
  • Water- 1 cup
To Grind
  • Coconut grated- 1 cup
  • Yogurt/Curd- 1 cup
  • Cumin seeds- ½ tsp
  • Turmeric powder-1/4 tsp
  • Green chilies chopped- 1
  • Curry leaves- 1 sprig
  • Water- ½ cup
For seasoning
  • Mustard seeds- 1 tsp
  • Fenugreek seeds- ¼ tsp
  • Whole red chilies-2
  • Curry leaves- 1 sprig
  • Coconut oil- 1 tbsp
Other ingredients
  • Yogurt- ½ cup
Instructions
  1. Into the stainless steel pot, add ripe mangoes along with red chili powder, turmeric powder, salt and water.
  2. Select saute setting, at normal temperature.
  3. Close the pot with a glass lid.
  4. Cook for 10 minutes till mangoes turn soft and cooked.
  5. Grind the above-mentioned ingredients ‘to grind’ into a smooth paste.
  6. Add the ground paste to the cooked mangoes.
  7. Rinse the blender jar with ½ cup water and add to the pot.
  8. Add ½ to 1 tsp salt.
  9. Cook for 5 to 8 minutes in saute mode until the raw smell of the ground paste goes away.
  10. Add remaining ½ cup yogurt/Curd and combine well.
  11. Cook for 3 minutes.
  12. Remove the stainless steel pot from the main pot. Keep it covered.
Making the seasoning
  1. In a frying pan, heat coconut oil, add mustard seeds and let it splutter, add whole red chilies, curry leaves and finally add fenugreek seeds.
  2. Saute in oil for a couple of seconds and remove the pan from the flame.
  3. Add the above seasoning over the cooked Mango pulissery; keep the pot covered for some time.
  4. This is one of the side dishes in Sadya, one of my favorites.
  5. Serve along with rice and enjoy.
