Apple Dates Custard Drink – Refreshing & Delicious

Delicious & refreshing chilled drink…

Custard pudding is everyone’s favourite. Some days I prefer a chilled drink with custard & that’s when I make this delicious drink. Every time I make it tweak the recipe by adding different fruits, nuts, etc.

This time, I added pureed apple & dates to the chilled custard along with mixed fruits & nuts. Absolutely scrumptious drink, that’s refreshing as well.

  • Milk- 2 cups
  • Condensed milk- 3 tbsp
  • Saffron strands- 8 strands
  • Custard powder- 1 tbsp mixed with 2 tbsp cold water
  • Apple, chopped- 1
  • Dates, pitted- 5
To garnish
  • Mixed fruits like apple, orange, pomegranate
  • Almonds, sliced- 5 almonds
  • Pistachios, crushed- 10 pistachios
  • Soaked basil seeds- ¼ cup
  • Rose petals for garnish, optional
  1. Place a saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Add milk, condensed milk & saffron strands, combine well & cook for a few minutes.
  3. If you like this drink to be very sweet, you can up to 5 tbsp of condensed milk.
  4. In a bowl, combine 1 tbsp custard powder with 2 tbsp cold water.
  5. Add the custard slurry to the milk, keep stirring & cook for 4 to 5 minutes.
  6. Don't let the milk thicken as this is a drink.
  7. Take the pan off the heat & let cool down for a few minutes & then chill in the refrigerator.
  8. In a bowl soak 1 tbsp basil seeds in ¼ cup water for a few minutes till the seeds bloom.
  9. Before serving, to a blender jar add 1 chopped apple & pitted dates along with ½ cup water & puree till smooth.
  10. Add the pureed apple dates to the chilled custard milk, combine well.
  11. Add the chopped mixed fruits, almonds & pistachios.
  12. Add the soaked basil seeds, combine well.
  13. If you prefer you can add a few ice cubes.
  14. Pour the chilled custard drink to a glass.
  15. Garnish with rose petals, this is optional.
  16. Enjoy this delicious & refreshing drink, yum!
