Butter chicken is a popular Indian dish. It’s a creamy, mildly spiced curry dish made with chicken cooked in a rich tomato-based sauce. This is one dish that is found on the menu of all Indian restaurants.

Ingredients
For pressure cooking
- Onion, finely chopped- 1
- Ginger-Garlic paste- 1 tbsp
- Tomatoes, finely chopped- 2
- Boneless chicken breasts or thighs, diced- 2 breasts or thighs
- Tomato paste- 2 tbsp
- Kashmiri chili powder- 1 tsp
- Garam Masala- 1 tsp
- Salt- 1½ tsp
After pressure-cooking
- Butter, unsalted- 1 tbsp
- Cream- 2 tbsp
- Sugar- ½ tsp
- Dried fenugreek leaves- 1 to 2 tbsp (optional)
- Cilantro, chopped- ¼ cup
Instructions
- To the stainless steel pot, dump all the ingredients mentioned 'for pressure cooking'.
- Combine well.
- Close the pot with the lid.
- Select pressure cook setting, set the time to 5 minutes at high pressure.
- After 5 minutes of pressure cooking, do a quick pressure release.
- Open the lid.
- Combine the cooked chicken with the gravy.
- Add butter, sugar & cream, combine well.
- Taste & add salt if required.
- Add dried fenugreek leaves & cilantro. Combine well.
- Remove the stainless steel pot from the main pot, keep it covered for 5 minutes.
- Serve butter chicken along with basmati rice, naan or roti.
