If you are reading this article, then I’m pretty sure that you have started thinking of starting your workouts, a huge warm welcome to the fitness world. Remember, health is wealth so let’s get started…
I’d been thinking of starting a new section called workouts or fitness or something of this category for so long, finally it’s happening. I’ve received many emails from my readers asking about the kind of workouts I do, for healthy tips, tips to lose weight etc etc. I’ve replied to all of them. Now that I’ve this blog, I thought it’s good to share all those over here so that anyone who is interested can follow them. I’m not claiming that I’m an expert in giving workout tips. I’ll be sharing from my experiences and those learned from my Man, other experts, youtube videos and other genuine articles.
One of the excuses I hear from most people is that they don’t have access to gym or they can’t go to gym. Btw, who said you have to go to gym to workout???
A small space in your sweet cozy home is enough to do all the basic workouts. There are millions of workouts you can do in your home. Now, don’t say you feel lazy and unmotivated when you workout all alone (I’d the same feeling in the beginning). No excuse for that either. Just click youtube, search for workouts and you will see tons of group workouts loading up, play the workout videos you are interested in either on your laptop or any smart phone and start working out watching those videos. You are not alone now 🙂
When I say to some people that I workout, I get this question: “You are already in good shape, why do you have to workout???” Now, that’s the biggest misconception. Being skinny doesn’t mean that you are healthy/you are toned up/you are fit. Workouts are done so that you can continue to be fit, make sure your muscles are in good shape, to increase your overall health and to prevent many diseases. So, skinny or non-skinny, you gotta workout for your mental and physical well being, period!
Here are a few things to keep in mind when you are new to working out
- Know your body type and do workouts based on that. There are different workouts to tone up different parts of the body.
- Wear proper clothing while working out-track pants/capri/shorts, sports tees or tank tops, sports bra for good support (of course, this is applicable only for women) and a good pair of running shoes. No baggy clothes please, it’s very unsafe.
- When you are a beginner you are highly motivated and want to do all possible workouts in one single day. Slow down folks, take baby steps and slowly pick up the pace.
- The first week, you will feel exhausted after all the workouts and you will find how stubborn your muscles are. Don’t worry, continue doing. Trust me, after a couple of weeks you will notice huge improvement in your stamina.
- Eat well and healthy before you workout so that you can do more workouts and burn more calories: I would recommend smoothies made with mixed fruits, veggies and nuts (along with yogurt or milk). Protein powder can also be added to smoothies.
- Never ever starve to lose weight, it’s worse than eating unhealthy food.
- Eat a healthy protein rich breakfast every single day- egg white, oatmeal, fruit/veggie smoothie etc.
- Drink lots of water, it does wonders- increase in energy, glowing skin and you will feel great. (I’m still working on this).
- There will be always a conflict going on between your healthy and the unhealthy mind. Healthy mind would say-go workout buddy, unhealthy would oppose strongly by saying- be cozy on the couch, eat more of those potato chips and enjoy all the sitcoms. The moment the unhealthy mind pops up, you need to jump out of your couch and get ready to workout. You have resisted the temptation, now you are good to go.
Stay tuned for more tips…
