Being a lively person, Chicago is definitely my type of city. When I started my stay in the city, it didn’t take much time for me to fall into the Chicago groove. I love everything about Chicago: starting from the downtown, the crowd, the architecture of the buildings in the city, the skyline view, the Navy pier, the Millennium park, the Lake shore drive, the Sears Tower, the Water tower place, the Buckingham Fountain, the shopping spree, the weather(oh yaa, when most of the people complain about the winter there, I being a snow freak enjoyed the snowy days the most) and last but not the least loved the restaurants in Chicago. One amazing thing about living in the city is that we have the access to almost everything, especially fine and authentic restaurants. During special occasions my husband and I used to dine in the best and fine restaurants in the downtown.

No matter what the special occasion is, whether it’s valentines day, an anniversary, first date or birthdays Chicago has a variety of restaurants which offers a splendid intimate dining experience. One such restaurant we loved was the Cité Restaurant, a french romantic restaurant at the top of the Lake point tower. We dined there on valentine’s day. Besides offering a romantic setting, the 360 degree panoramic views of Chicago’s skyline and lakefront was mind boggling.

Since it was valentine’s day, they had the special valentine’s 6 course dinner menu which included few of the chef’s signature dishes. We started our 6 course dinner with lobster bisque, which was of course creamy and rich. Followed by chef’s special mini pancake topped with caviar, which tasted phenomenal. One dish I looked forward to trying was the Ostrich. At first, I felt a little wary about this dish, but it tasted pretty good. It almost tasted like steak, with an intense flavor. Before the entree, we were given a mini dessert which was chef’s specialty – champagne ice cream with rose petals. I loved this one, especially the bite of rose petals in the mini ice cream. For entree, I had Scallops, which was sauteed with mushrooms and glazed with a sauce. My husband had steak. For dessert, we had Neo Neapolitan, which included strawberry napoleon, hot chocolate fondue and toasted marshmallows.

The whole experience was pretty good and we had an incredible romantic dinner with the breathtaking view of Chicago skyline. I would highly recommend this restaurant for special or romantic occasions. This is a high end restaurant, so obviously the check would come high too. I think it’s worth every penny, after all it’s our day and we could go little over the board and at the end we feel happy about that.

And don’t forget to reserve ahead of time and request window seating, they do fill up fast.

Having lived in Chicago for more than 3 years I had the opportunity to explore Chicago as a local resident.
