Chuck, round, or brisket cuts can be used for making the pot roast.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">To a bowl, add all the ingredients mentioned for &#8216;making the spice mix&#8217;, combine well.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">You can literally add any kind of spices, seasonings or dried herbs of your choice.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Spread the spice mix all over the beef.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Let marinate for 30 minutes to an hour. If you have more time, let marinate for 2 to 3 hours.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Turn on the Instant precision Dutch oven.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Place the cooking pot into the cooker base.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Select sear\/saute setting. Set the time to 30 minutes. This setting has a default temperature of 400 F or 204 C. Click start.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">It will first preheat, after preheating display will show add food.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Add oil to the cooking pot.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Place the marinated beef in the oil, sear for 3 minutes let the bottom side turn golden brown in color.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Flip over &amp; let all the sides sear well.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Add garlic, dried bay leaves, shallots, combine well.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Add balsamic vinegar, soy sauce, combine well for a minute.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Add water &amp; combine well. Instead of water you can also add beef broth.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Close the cooking pot with its lid.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Cancel Sear\/saute setting.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Select Slow cook setting, set the time to 4 hours. This setting has a default temperature of 203 F or 95 C. Click start.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">For 2 to 2.5 lbs beef, slow cook for 4 hours.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">For 3 lbs to 4 lbs beef, slow cook for 6 hours.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">After 2.5 hours of slow cooking, I&#8217;ve added diced carrots &amp; potatoes to the pot.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Let slow cook for the remaining 1.5 hours.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">After total 4 hours of slow cooking, display will show keeping warm, will go into warm mode.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Fork-tender, juicy &amp; tender pot roast will be ready along with rich, flavorful gravy &amp; slow-cooked potatoes &amp; carrots.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">If you want to thicken the gravy, take the slow-cooked pot roast out of the pot &amp; transfer to a large bowl.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">In a bowl, combine 1 tbsp cornstarch with 2 tbsp cold water.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Click on Manual mode, click twice so that Mode 2 will be selected.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Mode 2 has a temperature range of 212 F to 300 F (Mode 1 temperature range is 77 F to 203 F).<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Set the temperature to 300 F &amp; time to 30 minutes. If you prefer you can soak the rice in water for 15 minutes.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">I made a homemade spice mix that I use for making Middle Eastern dishes.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">In a bowl, combine all the above-mentioned spices. This can be stored in an air-tight container.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Keep the cooking pot in the cooker base.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Click on Manual mode, click twice to select Mode 2, set the temperature to 300 F &amp; time 30 minutes, click start.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">After preheating, the display will show add food.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Add ghee, dried bay leaves, saute for a few seconds.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Add mixed veggies chopped small. I&#8217;ve added beans, corn &amp; carrots.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Saute for 2 minutes.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">I&#8217;ve added 2 tbsp of the spice mix.
