One of the dishes I love making with it is oats puttu or steamed oats. Puttu is a popular breakfast in Kerala, layered with wet rice flour &amp; coconut &amp; steam cooked. Puttu can also be made with oats &amp; can be layered with different ingredients. Recently, I layered oats with diced mango, dates, jaggery, and coconut &amp; steamed. Poured thick coconut milk over the hot oats puttu, the result was beyond delicious.<\/p>\n<p>Mango oats puttu is a delightful and nutritious breakfast option that combines the goodness of oats and the tropical flavor of mango. For making more double or triple the recipe accordingly.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">I&#8217;ve used the easy cook oats that cooks in a minute, Quaker brand.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">To a bowl, add oats, using your clean hand crush the oats.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Don&#8217;t grind the oats to powder, it will turn soggy while steam cooking &amp; the texture won&#8217;t be that great.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Sprinkle 3 tbsp water over the crushed oats &amp; mix with your hand &amp; wet the oats. Break any lumps as you combine.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Don&#8217;t add a lot of water, oats will turn mushy.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">I&#8217;ve used the puttu maker that has to be kept over the pressure cooker whistle.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Place the disc into the puttu maker.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Spread 1 tbsp grated coconut.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Top with 2 handfuls of wet oats.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Add a handful of diced mangoes, a few chopped dates, 1 tbsp grated jaggery over the oats.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Don&#8217;t skip adding jaggery, gives a nice taste to this puttu.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Again, top with 2 handfuls of the oats.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Add 1 tbsp coconut over the oats &amp; 1 tsp grated jaggery.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Close with the lid.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Place a pressure cooker over medium heat, add 1 cup water &amp; close with the lid.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">When the steam release through the whistle hole.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Place the puttu maker on the whistle hole, cook for 4 to 5 minutes until steam releases through all the holes on the puttu maker lid.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Take it out of the whistle hole, it&#8217;s very hot so be very careful.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Open the lid &amp; flip the oats puttu on a plate.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Pour 2 to 3 tbsp thick coconut milk over the hot oats puttu, top with diced mango.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Enjoy this mango oats puttu right away while it&#8217;s hot, when it gets cold oats will turn firm.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">I had this for breakfast so served sunny side up egg with it.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">This can be served for breakfast or as an evening snack.
