However, they are neither cucumber nor melons. Totally different species, popular in Mexico &amp; Central America. My neighbor introduced this tiny cute vegetable to me &amp; I fell head over heels at the first sight. I&#8217;ve planted cucamelon in my backyard garden &amp; it didn&#8217;t disappoint me. It grew like a weed &amp; I&#8217;ve been harvesting almost every single day. I made a South Indian style pickle with cucamelons, turned out awesome. Let turn hot.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Add oil, let the oil turn hot. I&#8217;ve added gingelly or light sesame oil, or use vegetable oil.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Add mustard seeds, let splutter.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Add cumin seeds &amp; dried red chili flakes, saute for a few seconds.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Add chopped garlic, saute till garlic turns golden in color.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Add curry leaves, saute.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Add fenugreek seeds &amp; asafoetida, saute for a few seconds.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Do not burn the fenugreek seeds, it will impart a bitter taste.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Add the cucuamelon combined with the spices.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Combine well, cook for 4 minutes till they turn soft.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Do not over cook the cucamelons.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Add white vinegar, combine well.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Cook for 2 minutes.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Finally, add gingelly or sesame oil.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Take the pan from the heat, let the pickle cool down completely.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Transfer to an air tight container, store it in the refrigerator.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">This pickle can be stored in the refrigerator for a couple of months.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Enjoy with rice, chapati, etc.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"ERNutrition\"><\/div>\n<div>\n<div class=\"ERNotesHeader\">Notes<\/div>\n<div class=\"ERNotes\">You can replace cucamelons with raw diced mangoes, gooseberry, carrots &amp; green apples.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"endeasyrecipe\" style=\"display: none;\">3.5.3251<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Cucamelons harvested from my garden turned into a South Indian style pickle&#8230; Cucamelons look like a miniature watermelon, inside is like cucumber &amp; tastes like cucumber with a hint of lime.
