then do a quick pressure release.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">You can save the chickpeas water- can be added while making the chana masala.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Keep aside the cooked chickpeas.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<div class=\"ERSeparator\">[b]Making the ground paste[\/b]<\/div>\n<ol>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Turn on the saute setting on the Instant Pot. The temperature should be medium or normal.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Let stainless steel pot turn hot.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Add 1 tbsp oil.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Add onions, season with salt.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Add ginger &amp; garlic.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Cook for 2 minutes.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Add tomatoes, cook for 2 minutes.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Add chili powder &amp; turmeric powder, combine well.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Cook for 2 minutes.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Remove the stainless steel pot from the main pot.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Cancel saute setting.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Let cool down for a few minutes.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Add the cooked onion-tomato to a blender jar.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Puree at high speed to a smooth paste.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">If water is required to puree, add 1\/4 cup water.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Keep aside the pureed paste.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<div class=\"ERSeparator\">[b]Cooking Chana masala[\/b]<\/div>\n<ol>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Turn on Saute setting, temperature should be medium or normal.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Wash the stainless steel pot that was used for cooking onion-tomato, don&#8217;t use it without washing the bottom of the pot will turn brown while cooking.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Let the stainless steel pot turn hot.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Add ghee or oil.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Add dried bay leaves, whole cardamom, cloves &amp; cinnamon.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Saute for a few seconds, don&#8217;t burn them.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Add the pureed onion-tomato paste, combine well.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Rinse the blender jar with 1\/2 cup water, add that to the pot.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Add garam masala, Kashmiri chili powder, coriander powder &amp; salt.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Combine well,<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Add green chilies.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Add cooked chickpeas, combine well.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">If you have saved the liquid from the cooked chickpeas, add 1 cup of that liquid or add water.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Keep covered with a lid.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Combine well, cook for 5 minutes.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Add dried mango powder or amchur powder.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">If you don&#8217;t have mango powder, add 1\/2 tbsp lemon juice.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Combine well, cook for 2 minutes.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Taste &amp; add more salt if required.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Add chopped cilantro, combine well.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Remove the stainless steel pot from the main pot.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Keep it covered for a few minutes.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Serve into a bowl, enjoy with Bhatura or Poori or Basmati rice.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"ERNutrition\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"endeasyrecipe\" style=\"display: none;\">3.5.3251<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Best tasting &amp; restaurant-style chana masala or chickpea curry made in the Instant Pot&#8230; Chana masala is the most popular Indian vegetarian curry, enjoyed by both veg &amp; non-vegetarians.
