If you want the rice to be cooked softer- you should add 1\/2 cup more water.<\/p>\n<p>However, cooking time varies depending on the type of rice you are using. IP rice button is timed for cooking white rice and Parboiled rice. For other kinds, we have to use pressure cooking. For instance, Brown rice should be cooked at high pressure for 22 minutes. Wild rice needs more time, around 30 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>I cooked brown rice in the IP and in 22 minutes with quick pressure release, perfectly cooked brown rice was ready, not mushy at all.<\/p>\n<p>For all kinds of Rice, <strong>Rice : Water ratio is 1 : 1 for making Al dente rice (firmer rice)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>For <strong>softer rice, add 1\/2 cup more water.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Cooking Times:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>White Rice and Parboiled Rice, rinsed- use rice button. Either do Natural pressure release (NPR) or quick pressure release.<\/li>\n<li>Basmati Rice, rinsed: at high pressure for 8 minutes. Either do natural pressure release (NPR) or quick pressure release (QPR).<\/li>\n<li>Brown Rice, rinsed: at high pressure for 22 minutes. Either do NPR or quick pressure release (QPR).<\/li>\n<li>Wild Rice, rinsed:\u00a0at high pressure for 30 minutes.
