cumin- 1\/2 tsp<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">Salt- to taste<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">Basmati rice, washed and soaked in water for 15 minutes- 2 cups<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">Ghee- 2 tbsp<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">Cilantro, chopped- 1\/4 cup<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">Fresh Mint leaves, chopped- 6 leaves<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">Water- 4 cups<\/li>\n<li class=\"ERSeparator\">[b]To Garnish[\/b]<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">Saffron strands- 2 pinches soaked in 1 tbsp water<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">Fried onion- 1 onion fried in oil<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">Ghee roasted almonds or Cashew nuts- 1\/2 cup<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">Cilantro, chopped- 2 handfuls<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"ERInstructions\">\n<div class=\"ERInstructionsHeader\">Instructions<\/div>\n<div class=\"instructions\">\n<div class=\"ERSeparator\">[b]Prep work[\/b]<\/div>\n<ol>\n<li class=\"instruction\">In a blender or food processor, coarsely grind ginger, garlic, green chilies, whole cardamom, whole cloves and whole cinnamon. Keep aside.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Rinse basmati rice taken in a sieve under running water and soak the rice in water for 15 minutes.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Slice 1 onion thin and long, fry in oil till golden brown. Transfer to a paper towel and keep aside.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Roast 1\/2 cup of almonds or cashew nuts in 1 tbsp ghee till golden in color, keep aside.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Soak 2 pinches of saffron strands in 1 tbsp water for 5 minutes.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<div class=\"ERSeparator\">[b]Cooking Biryani[\/b]<\/div>\n<ol>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Place a large non-stick pan over medium heat, add coconut or vegetable oil.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Add bay leaves, whole cardamom and whole cloves, saute for a few seconds.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Add sliced onions, season with salt and cook till translucent.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Add the coarsely ground ginger\/garlic\/green chili\/cardamom\/cloves mixture. Combine well and cook till onions turn golden in color.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Add tomatoes, cook for a few minutes.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Add ground beef, combine well using a wooden spoon and break any lumps.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Add chili powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, fennel powder, ground cumin and salt. Combine well and cook covered till the ground beef has cooked well- about 15 to 20 minutes.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Open the lid, saute till ground beef turns light brown.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Add the soaked basmati rice (after draining the water) to the cooked ground beef. Season with salt.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Add ghee to the rice and add cilantro and mint leaves.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Add 4 cups water.
