Most people I have met have a list of veggies that they dislike. I tend to appreciate and like the different flavor and taste each\u00a0veggies have. However, I am partial towards some veggies, Okra is one among them.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the\u00a0common okra dishes in Kerala cuisine are <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thasneen.com\/cooking\/okra-and-coconut-stir-fry\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">okra thoran or okra stir fry with coconut<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thasneen.com\/cooking\/how-to-make-sadya-or-keralas-flavorful-veggie-palatte-onam-sadya-recipes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">okra pachadi\/kichadi<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thasneen.com\/cooking\/okra-theeyal-or-okra-in-roasted-coconut-gravy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">okra theeyal<\/a>,\u00a0okra pulikari or okra in tamarind sauce. All of these dishes are dear to me and I even add okra to some of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thasneen.com\/cooking\/chicken-and-okra-gumbo-louisiana-recipe\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">chicken dishes<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>One of my favorite okra dishes is okra kichadi, fried okra combined with beaten yogurt. In fact, this is my Man&#8217;s favorite veggie dish too. The other day,\u00a0while getting ready to make okra kichadi, I had a second thought and wanted to give a little twist to the usual okra kichadi. I did make a twist and came up with this dish. I made okra masala and added the beaten yogurt to that. Let oil turn hot.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Add mustards seeds, let it splutter.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Add cumin seeds, dry red chili and curry leaves, saute for a few seconds.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Add chopped tomatoes, saute till slightly cooked.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Add okra, saute till they are no longer sticky. If it&#8217;s getting dry add 1\/4 cup water and keep saut\u00e9ing.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Let the okra turn slightly browned.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Add chili powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, garam masala and salt. Combine well.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Turn off the heat and keep the pan on the stove.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Beat the yogurt well using a whisk. Add the beaten yogurt to the okra masala and combine well.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Do not heat the yogurt, it will curdle.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Taste and add more salt if needed.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Once the yogurt has mixed well with the masala, remove the pan from the stove.
