I didn&#8217;t grow up having strawberries as it was not a common fruit in my hometown. The first time I tasted strawberries was when I visited Ooty, a popular hill station in Tamil Nadu. I\u00a0instantly\u00a0fell in love with the taste, the vibrant red color and the heart shape of it.<\/p>\n<p>In North America, strawberries are available in the market all year long. Even if there isn&#8217;t any fresh ones, there will be always frozen ones available. I had been to strawberry picking a couple of times, the taste of freshly picked strawberries is just phenomenal. This is one such fruit that&#8217;s always found in my refrigerator. They come in handy to garnish and enhance the appearance of any desserts.<\/p>\n<p>I often make strawberry shakes, strawberry syrup to pour on pancakes or waffles, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thasneen.com\/cooking\/chocolate-pistachio-covered-strawberry\/\" target=\"_blank\">chocolate pistachio covered strawberries<\/a> etc. The other day, when I made the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thasneen.com\/cooking\/mini-black-forest-cake-4-minute-microwave-chocolate-cake-gluten-free\/\" target=\"_blank\">mini black forest cakes<\/a> I had some leftover whipped cream. I also had some ripe strawberries in the refrigerator. I couldn&#8217;t think of a better way to use up both.\u00a0Layered strawberries and whipped cream, sprinkled with grated chocolate.
