Veggies like cucumber, pumpkin, tomatoes can be used. Or can be made with ripe fruits like pineapple, mango, plantain etc.<\/p>\n<p>My favorite is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thasneen.com\/cooking\/how-to-make-sadya-or-keralas-flavorful-veggie-palatte-onam-sadya-recipes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">mango pulissery<\/a>, the sweetness from the mango, the sourness of the yogurt and the aroma from the seasoning makes it such a delightful vegetarian dish. Pulissery is always served in Kerala Sadya and is one of the South Indian vegetarian delicacies.\u00a0Not just with sadya, it is often served for lunch as a side dish along with rice. I love the combination of red rice, pulissery and pickle&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cucumber Pulissery<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-10155\" title=\"cucumber pulisery\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thasneen.com\/cooking\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/cucumber-pulisery1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"475\" height=\"713\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thasneen.com\/cooking\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/cucumber-pulisery1.jpg 475w, https:\/\/thasneen.com\/cooking\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/cucumber-pulisery1-133x200.jpg 133w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 475px) 100vw, 475px\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>To cook cucumber<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Cucumber, cubed- 1<\/li>\n<li>Turmeric powder- 1\/4 tsp<\/li>\n<li>Chili powder- 1\/4 tsp<\/li>\n<li>Curry leaves- 1 sprig<\/li>\n<li>Water- 1\/2 cup<\/li>\n<li>Salt- 1\/2 tsp<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>To Grind:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Coconut, grated- 1\/2 cup<\/li>\n<li>Green chilies- 2<\/li>\n<li>Cumin seeds- 1 tsp<\/li>\n<li>Water-1\/4 cup<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Other ingredients:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Yogurt, beaten-\u00a0\u00a01\/2 cup<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>For seasoning<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Coconut oil or vegetable oil- 1 tbsp<\/li>\n<li>Mustard seeds- 1 tsp<\/li>\n<li>Whole dry red chili- 2<\/li>\n<li>Curry leaves- 5 leaves<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Instruction<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In a saucepan, combine cucumber with the ingredients mentioned above &#8220;to cook cucumber&#8217; and cook covered till cucumber has turned tender.
