Hot Dog and Mixed Beans Masala
- Hot dogs, cut into 2inch pieces- 5
- Mixed beans or chick peas, canned- 1 can
- Oil- 2 tbsp
- Cumin seeds- 1 tsp
- Bay leaves- 2
- Onion, chopped- 1 large
- Ginger-Garlic paste- 2 tsp
- Green chilies, chopped- 2
- Tomatoes, chopped- 2
- Cumin powder- 1 tsp
- Chili powder- ¾ tsp
- Turmeric powder- ½ tsp
- Coriander powder- 1 tsp
- Water- ½ cup
- Lemon juice- 1 tsp
- Cilantro, chopped- 1 handful
- Salt- to taste
- Cut the hot dogs into 2 inch pieces and keep aside.
- Rinse the canned beans or chick peas under running water.
- Heat a saucepan over medium heat, add oil.
- To the oil, add cumin seeds and bay leaves, let cumin seeds turn light brown.
- Add onions, salt and saute till onions turn tender.
- Add ginger-garlic paste and green chilies to the onion, saute for sometime.
- Add tomatoes and let it get mashed.
- Now, add cumin powder, turmeric powder, chili powder, garam masala and coriander powder, combine everything well.
- Add hot dogs and mixed beans, mix well.
- Add water and cook covered for 5-7 minutes.
- Open the lid and let the mixture thicken.
- Finally add lemon juice and cilantro, give it a stir and remove from the flame.
- Serve hot with basmati rice, chapati or batura.
•You could avoid hot dogs and make this with mixed beans or chick peas.
