Instructions
Into the stainless steel pot, add ripe mangoes along with red chili powder, turmeric powder, salt and water.
Select saute setting, at normal temperature.
Close the pot with a glass lid.
Cook for 10 minutes till mangoes turn soft and cooked.
Grind the above-mentioned ingredients ‘to grind’ into a smooth paste.
Add the ground paste to the cooked mangoes.
Rinse the blender jar with ½ cup water and add to the pot.
Add ½ to 1 tsp salt.
Cook for 5 to 8 minutes in saute mode until the raw smell of the ground paste goes away.
Add remaining ½ cup yogurt/Curd and combine well.
Cook for 3 minutes.
Remove the stainless steel pot from the main pot. Keep it covered.
Making the seasoning
In a frying pan, heat coconut oil, add mustard seeds and let it splutter, add whole red chilies, curry leaves and finally add fenugreek seeds.
Saute in oil for a couple of seconds and remove the pan from the flame.
Add the above seasoning over the cooked Mango pulissery; keep the pot covered for some time.
This is one of the side dishes in Sadya, one of my favorites.
Serve along with rice and enjoy.
