Beef broth left on the aluminum foil after cooking beef balls
Chili powder- ¼ to ½ tsp (if you need this dish to be spicy)
Dried Oregano 1 tsp
Ground cumin- ½ tsp
Salt- ½ tsp
Cooked Spaghetti- 1 pack
Cilantro, chopped- 2 handfuls
Instructions
In a large bowl, combine all the ingredients to make the beef balls.
Make small balls out of the mix and keep aside.
Turn on the Instant Pot.
Add 1 cup water into the stainless steel pot.
Place the trivet on the water.
Place the aluminum foil on the trivet- make it into a bowl shape.
Place the beef balls on the foil.
Close the pot with the lid.
If using 7 in 1 or 7 in 1 DUO- turn the knob to Sealing. In Ultra, no need to worry about turning to sealing.
Select the pressure cook mode. ( In 7 in 1 DUO: Manual- high pressure. Click Adjust- set time to 10 minutes).
In Ultra: Set the time to 10 minutes, and at high pressure, click start.
After 10 minutes of pressure cooking, do a natural pressure release (NPR)- takes about 20 minutes.
Open the lid, beef balls will be cooked perfectly. There will be some beef broth left on the aluminum foil- we will be adding this while making the sauce.
In the meantime, cook the spaghetti in a large pot filled with water and seasoned with salt and 1 tbsp oil.
Drain the water from the cooked spaghetti and keep aside.
Let's make the sauce.
Turn on the Saute Mode, at normal temperature.
When the display shows Hot. Add 1 tbsp oil.
Add onion, season with ½ tsp salt- combine well and saute till onions turn golden in color.
Add tomato sauce, water and the beef broth. Combine well and cook for 3 minutes.
Add chili powder, dried oregano, ground cumin and salt. combine well.
Add the cooked beef balls, pour the sauce over the beef balls.
Add the cooked spaghetti. Using a tong, gently mix with the sauce- don't combine vigorously as the beef balls can break apart.
Garnish with cilantro.
Place the spaghetti along with the sauce on a bowl and top with beef balls. Enjoy this hearty and healthy spaghetti and meat balls.
Notes
Beef balls can be topped on salads, wrapped in pita bread or tortilla; so many options for making quick fix meals.
