Sweet and Spicy Shrimp with Snap Peas
- Shrimp, deveined and deshelled- 25
- Ground pepper- ½ tsp
- Salt- very little
- Oil- 2 tbsp
- Shallots, chopped long- 3 large
- Snap Peas, strings removed from the sides- 1 packet
- Green Pepper, cut into thin wedges- 1 (optional)
- Sambal Oelek- 1½ tsp
- Soy Sauce, low-sodium- 2 to 3 tbsp
- Ground pepper- ¼ tsp
- Brown sugar- 1½ tbsp
- Black Sesame seeds- 3 tbsp
- Devein and de-shell the shrimp, combine with ground pepper and little salt, cook in a large pan till it has cooked well. Keep aside.
- In the same pan used for cooking shrimp, add oil, and add shallots to it, saute till it starts t0 turn light brown in color.
- Remove the strings from the sides of the snap peas by snapping the stem end and pull the strings down.
- Add the snap peas and green pepper to the pan.
- Cook covered till the veggies turn tender.
- Add the cooked shrimp to the veggies, combine to it.
- Add sambal oelek, soy sauce and ground pepper, combine well, cook for a couple of minutes.
- Add brown sugar and mix it with the sauce in the pan, cook for a minute.
- Sprinkle sesame seeds, combine well.
- Cover the pan with the lid and remove from the heat.
- Serve hot along with noodles, rice or as a side dish.
Adjust the spice and sweetness according to your needs.
